Tony Dungy statement on Michael Sam

We all know Tony Dungy is probably one of the most likeable & classy guys in football whether is coaching, or being an analyst on TV. Dungy is a Christian man, his faith has lead him to be who he is today. I can recall when Mike Vick was released from prison he led him as a mentor. In a statement he made about his comment about Michael Sam he said "I was asked whether I would have drafted Michael Sam and I answered that I would not have drafted him. I gave my honest answer, which is that I felt drafting him would bring much distraction to the team,"

I personally do not see anything wrong with what Tony said, he did not say Michael Sam shouldn't be in the league. He simply said he would have not drafted him. To me this is absurd because Dungy comments is the same as 31 NFL teams that did not draft Michael Sam. Michael Sam was drafted by the St.Louis Ram 249 overall at the 7th round. The thing that bothers me is the fact 31 other teams passed on Michael Sam for various reason. There was a reason why no team in the NFL drafted Michael Sam with the exception of the home state where he played college football. It could be a different factors why teams didn't want Michael Sam. Dungy comments are no differentt than the other 31 teams that did not draft. One factor is he is a marginal player. That alone can be a big factor.

The question now is can Michael Sam make the Rams roster. He is currently 3rd on the depth chart of right defensive end for the Rams. If Michael Sam does not make the Rams roster, I can bet you that it will have nothing to do with his sexual orientation. Any business owner that discriminate in hiring will not have the best employees. For instance if an NBA owner decides not to sign black players, obviously the talent on his roster will diminsh.
